The Second World War in a television mini-series which, seen through the eyes of a group of mountaineers from the 10th Mountain Division, from the arrival of the Division in Italy, between the end of 1944 and January 1945, to the end of the war. The mini-series, dubbed in US English, is based entirely on true events documented through the memories of still living veterans and recounts the personal experiences of the soldiers and their relationships with the civilian population. Set and filmed in the hilltowns and in the battlefields of the period, reconstructs some of the bloody battles and acts of heroism that led to the breakthrough of the German front in the central sector of the Gothic Line, on the mountains of the high Apennines between the provinces of the city of Bologna, Modena and Pistoia, prologue to the end of the Second World War in Italy.
